Jameson's Story

“On June 21st, 2023 they took me in for an emergency c- section due to Jameson not coming out and being in labor for 24 hours. When they they started the c - section and took Jameson out, every mom looks for that cry and Jameson didn’t. He came out purple and not breathing for 60 seconds which resulted in him have HIE. This was out of the ordinary for a baby that was as big as him and was extremely healthy. The NICU team and other doctors tried getting Jameson to breath on his own but he could not so they had to intubate him and rush him up to the NICU where they started him immediately on the cooling system. They came into the recovery after setting him up to say “ they were not sure if Jameson was going to make it”. The doctors had no explanation to why this happened to him. Jameson was on the cooling system for 72 hours to slow down his metabolism to prevent any brain injuries as well as EEGS on his head to monitor for seizures. That same night Jameson came off the intubation where they were able to get him to breathe on his own with little oxygen in his nose. As the days went by, Jameson was making such good progress and they were happy with how he was doing and there were no signs of seizure activity. At that 72 hour mark, they started to warm Jameson’s body temperature back up for 6 hours and continue to monitor him for seizure activity but at the end of that, he did excellent with the warming period and there were no seizures still. The next day, was the biggest day which was his MRI and it was the scariest moment of our life but the results came back and he had no brain injuries that the neurologist was thrilled. Each day, all the NICU nurses could not believe how well Jameson was doing and how he was passing all the test he needed to do in order to come home. On June 28th, Jameson was finally ready to come home after his NICU journey but he had some after care monitoring that we see regularly. This little boy is our fighter and is growing so well. “ NICU mama, Ashley
